PRESS RELEASE – TALKING MOON MUSIC
Written by Don Elford – Acer Arena, Sydney NSW
"Letter from Clint"
Hey All,
Thought I'd write a letter to you and let you know some more stuff about how TMM came about.

The idea spawned at live shows. We'd play a gig and supporters would ask for an album which we didn't have. We have a few demo's floating about that people had got their hands on one way or another, demo's which were either recorded at Dales home studio the night we wrote them or demo's which we'd done for record companies that never captured what we wanted to capture creatively - neither of which I felt comfortable selling.
Our music is really organic and I have always been a fan of bands who have built up from the grass roots. However, it wasn't until a random punter at a gig in Wagga Wagga asked "What do i have to kick in to make an album happen?" did we start thinking. After touring the USA, China and performing at the Byron Bay Blues and Roots festival 08 - receiving similar responses throughout, I thought "we Just have to get a move on.” We are definitely not into sitting around for another 12 months in "development" with a record company who may or may not be totally wasting our time.
Hence, the conclusion was reached - let's set up our own record company Talking Moon Music (TMM) and get the people who really matter involved - the music fans! People who just love music as opposed to people who are more consumed by bottom lines and haircuts.
The climate of the music business is forever changing and with everything so accessible thanks to the internet, major institutions seem to be a little left behind - losing the creative and daring edge that they once had. Of course there are exceptions - just never had the opportunity to work with any of the exceptions.
The time seems right for doing our own thing. Instead of seeking venture capitalists (money people) OR signing a publishing deal to raise the funds needed, taking an organic grass roots approach by holding onto our masters and publishing and giving one thousand (1000) people the opportunity to become part of our record company and part of this project makes a lot more sense.
Each member has to pay a membership of $100. Multiply that by 1000 and there you have $100 000, enough to record the album and get the ball rolling. We are not a charity and we are not asking for a donation. Members who join will receive a signed limited edition of the album when completed, life time entry to my shows, membership card for future use, one member will be randomly selected to come to LA all expenses paid and when we sell 100 000 copies world wide everyone gets their 100 bucks back. Not only that, but members have the opportunity down the track to really get involved by contributing ideas for promotion, getting the word out, submitting emerging artist for possible future development, member parties/forums and heaps of other stuff. There will be reward schemes set up where the more effort you put into all of the above the more you get out of it. It's like having 1000 AnR, promotions and supporters all in one!
We want people everywhere to get involved, people of all ages. But, we are limiting membership to 1000 member’s world wide. So if you like the music, jump on board it will be a fun ride. If you don't - don't tell anyone.
Cheers
Clint
